MRA SEIZES 1 KG OF SYNTHETIC DRUGS WORTH AROUND RS 15 MILLION

The Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) seized 1.028 kilograms of Synthetic drugs worth approximately Rs 15,420,000 on Monday, 17 April 2023 at a Courier Service. The drug arrived in Mauritius from China. The courier consignment, declared as pearlescent powder, was scanned by Customs Anti-Narcotics Section (CANS) of the MRA. Upon examination, the parcel, a carton box, was found to contain an aluminum sachet enclosing a plastic sachet which in turn contained a brownish powder suspected to be dangerous drugs. A field test for Synthetic Cannabinoid was carried out on the substance and the result was positive. The case was referred to ADSU for further enquiry. During a controlled delivery exercise by the latter one person has been arrested.
