With COVID-19 cases in Mauritius, some fellow citizens are stocking up essential food, non-food and pharmaceutical items. By doing so, they are putting themselves and others at risks. MCCI thus calls for responsible buying and urges consumers about the dangers of stock piling.
Our members and MCCI are committed to ensure timely, regular and safe supply of food, non-food, and pharmaceutical products.
As such meetings were held on 19th March 2020 with all major food, non-food, and pharmaceutical importers and also retailers and logistics operator. Measures are already taken to ensure the regular supply of food and non-food products in our country.
Please find attached to this release a copy of the protocol and commitment by the operators. We request consumers to be responsible and reasonable on purchasing essentials goods.
